**Note from Glenda McWhirter Todd - July 13, 2014

According to the records of the George Stanford Cemetery, also called the Thompson Cemetery, they stated that John Kirk Byrd was buried there, however, the tombstone I saw had the following engraved on it but some of it was almost illegible. "E. C. Byrd, wife of John K. Byrd", but had Elvira's dates of birth and death. When the survey of the cemetery was done, they probably could not read the "wife of" and thought it was John K. Byrd's tombstone. However, John and Elvira, both, have tombstones in the Shiloh Cemetery, which is within the perimeter of the Greenhill Hunting Club and the gate on Bethlehem Road is sometimes kept locked in which case a member would have to be contacted to be able to enter. There may be another way to get to the cemetery but I am unaware of one. The Allman family has recently placed a flat tombstone in the Thompson Cemetery with both John Kirk Byrd's name and Elvira Caroline Moore Byrd's name on it.

Elvira Caroline Byrd, - 26 September 1831 - 21 September 1905
John Kirk Byrd, 13 September 1827 - 07 February 1891

If anyone knows exactly where John Kirk Byrd and his wife, Elvira Caroline Moore Byrd are buried, please let Patricia Horne or me know.
